Protocol 0.2
Temporal Assertion Protocol
Every time-bearing claim is typed.
Temporal types
- ·EXACT-STATED (clock time quoted, clock identified)
- ·APPROX-STATED (source’s hedge preserved verbatim)
- ·RANGE-STATED
- ·DOC-HEADER (binds the document, never the events narrated in it)
- ·EVENT-STATED
- ·MEDIA-RELATIVE (offset into a recording; clock conversion requires a stated activation-time assumption, printed)
- ·DEVICE-CLOCK (timezone/accuracy unverified until reconciled)
- ·SECTION-SCOPED
- ·ORDINAL (before/after only)
- ·UNPLACEABLE (goes to an unordered annex, never interleaved)
- ·CONFLICT (both values printed)
Rules
- ·(a) for each entry, state in one line exactly what temporal proposition the source supports;
- ·(b) maintain a clock ledger (CAD, each BWC unit, dashcam, phone extraction with declared timezone, jail phone system, lab LIMS) with any cross-calibration events; intervals may be computed only between same-clock times or clocks with a stated offset;
- ·(c) any derived time is tagged INFERRED-TEMPORAL with the derivation shown;
- ·(d) a report’s header/incident time is never inherited by facts narrated inside the report;
- ·(e) approximate times are never promoted to exact for arithmetic.
